LSU has entered the Dallas-Fort Worth area with a commitment on the defensive line.
Mansfield (Texas) Timberview three-star defensive tackle Dylan Battle announced his commitment to the Tigers on Monday afternoon.
Battle, 6-foot-5, 315 pounds, spoke with Rivals about his decision to commit.
He chose the Tigers over offers from Texas A&M, Texas State, USC, Arkansas and more out of his total 22 offers.
Battle has deep ties to the Tigers and has made his interests known to the school. When he announced his commitment to the program, he said opportunity and relationships played a leading role.
“It’s really about going out there and competing early and that’s one of the main things. Coach Beau (Davis) Of course, our relationship, we have a great bond, so that’s a big part of my commitment as well. Just like the prestige of the academy. It’s just a football school, so I want to go there and get drafted, so that’s what I’m going to do.
Battle chose to make the decision now in order to resolve the issue before his senior season. The past few months have not been too difficult for Battle because he has made up his mind for a long time.
“That was after all my other official visits,” Battle said of knowing he chose LSU. “I know this is where I’m going to end up coming home. I already knew that and I’ve made the commitment, but I’m just now making it public.”
