Where to pre-order the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold
Google may have leaked the design and some details of its latest foldable phone nearly a month ago, but after Google Made 2024, it’s official: The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is here, and it looks better than Google’s first foldable phone .
The phone won’t ship until September 4, but you can pre-order it on the Google Store, Best Buy, and Amazon, starting at $1,799. Mashable’s Alex Perry got a hands-on preview of the Pro Fold ahead of its release, and according to his initial impressions, Google has “improved the device in almost every way that people might care” compared to last year’s Pixel Fold.

So what’s the difference? In addition to folding the phones into the Pixel 9 series, Google has also updated some key design features. First, the phone is thin, which isn’t entirely a given for a device with both internal and external displays. Even though Google shrunk the size of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, they also upped the display size: the 2023 Pixel Fold comes with a 5.8-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display. By comparison, the 9 Pro Fold has a 6.3-inch outer display and an 8-inch inner display with a peak brightness of 2,700 nits, a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, a 2076 x 2152 resolution, and narrower bezels than the older model .

This means the phone is less cramped and bulky to use when unfolded, while still feeling lighter than the previous Pixel Fold. In other words, innovative design becomes more practical.
Of course, without software support, these design upgrades don’t mean much. 16GB of RAM and a Tensor G4 chip help power the Gemini AI-powered console and help you maximize your experience with more screen real estate. For example, when using the internal display, you can run up to four different video streams in each quadrant of the display – or if that sounds a little too exciting, you can turn on text next to the YouTube video you’re watching. Other features combine the foldable device’s external display with artificial intelligence, including a new “Made You Look” feature designed to capture your child’s attention so you can capture the perfect shot.
Mix and match offer
If Google’s upgrade has you ready to spend at least $1,799 on a foldable phone, you can get it in obsidian or porcelain with 256GB or 512GB of storage.
