Tavern St. Claire jumps to first place1
The biggest news in this rankings update is the new No. 1 overall prospect, Tavien St. Clair. Ohio State moved up from No. 11 this offseason. In each event, St. Clair displays a set of skills that give us confidence he will be successful in college and beyond.
He has the arm strength, movement and accuracy to make an immediate impact at the college level. St. Clair is able to layer passes, shoot the ball into tight windows, and read the defense effectively to target the right receiver.
Moving St. Clair over Bryce Underwood and Julian Lewis wasn’t a decision the National Analytics team made lightly, but one we feel confident in given what we know about these players so far.
The battle for first place is not over yet. There are still two ranking updates to go before Rivals 250 is finalized, so St. Clair still has a lot of work to do.

Where does Julian Lewis go from here?
It’s not a knock on Louis that he went from first to fifth in the Rivals250, but rather how other rookies performed before him. USC has been great this offseason and continues to get better and better. Keep in mind that Lewis reclassified from the class of 2026, so he only played two years of high school football while the rest of the class played three.
That being said, Lewis is smaller and doesn’t seem to have much room to grow. He did have plenty of power and accuracy on his throws in training camp, and he dominated on Friday night. Lewis is playing at a very high level and it would be foolish to think he isn’t one of the best quarterbacks in this class.

The rise of Kieron Russell
Kieron Russell arguably had a better offseason than any rookie in the country. The Alabama product played in a lot of games and won MVP almost every time he took the field.
Russell moved up from No. 47 to No. 9 in this ranking update after showcasing the arm talents, dynamic throwing motion and solid accuracy of an elite quarterback. His feet are much cleaner than expected, and he’s used to competing against elite competition during the season. Russell plays against tough defenses week in and week out and has plenty of experience playing against tough defenses.
Has Russell moved up the rankings? We’ll have to wait and see how the season progresses.

Is there another five-star quarterback?
With four five-star quarterbacks already available, it’s hard to imagine a fifth coming, but there are a few candidates worth keeping an eye on.
Deuce Knight, currently at Notre Dame, has shown high-end athletic traits that make him difficult to stop when he’s at his best. Consistency and accuracy are key, but Knight has yet to prove it.
Florida State’s Trammell Jones has been outstanding in every game this offseason, and that hasn’t gone unnoticed. In the last few ranking updates, he has risen from 154th to 90th to 35th. As it goes this season and the All-Star season.
Texas A&M’s Husan Longstreet is another quarterback with five-star potential, but there are still elements of his game that need to be refined.
