The company told Inman that Compass has expanded its presence in the Carolinas, adding two teams in South Carolina and a former independent brokerage in North Carolina.
Bluffton and Hilton Head-based Sequel Real Estate Group and Charleston-based Coastal Island Properties teams have joined the brokerage in South Carolina.
“With the addition of these two teams, Compass’ presence in coastal South Carolina becomes even stronger,” Managing Director Renee Smith said in a statement. “We are excited to welcome Sequel Real Estate Group and Coastal Island Properties to Compass and provide them with the tools and resources to allow their businesses to thrive to new heights.”
Sequel Real Estate Group is a five-person team led by founder Chris England, a Hilton Head Island native who has been marketing and selling master-planned communities for 17 years.
“Over the past year, we’ve seen the growth of Compass in South Carolina, and overall [as a team]decided to take this step,” England said in a statement. “We joined Compass to become part of a larger community and national network. We were attracted to Compass’ strong culture, advanced technology and growth opportunities. This partnership is a great opportunity for us to enhance our services, better support our customers, and achieve new levels of success.
Coastal Island Properties co-CEOs Desiree Maurer and Lynn Burnett lead a team of six brokers based in Charleston. According to a press release from Compass, CEOs take customer service very seriously and believe the company can further improve it.
“Coastal Island Properties has chosen Compass because of its commitment to providing superior tools and support to its clients,” Maurer said in a statement. “Compass’ innovative technology, cutting-edge marketing strategies and collaborative culture are a perfect fit with our dedication to excellence and precision. .The synergy between our professional values and Compass’ resources ultimately benefits our clients, making Compass the ideal choice.
In Asheville, North Carolina, Compass welcomes as a team the formerly independent firm Panashe Real Estate, owned and led by broker Tracy Veteto.
Veteto founded the company in 2019 and has grown since then, with the team achieving $20 million in sales in 2023 and making the Asheville Top 100 Agents list that year. Veteto said the luxury market in the region is growing, as evidenced by the multiple sales he has completed in excess of $3 million so far in 2024.
“When we started Panashe five years ago, we said the only brokerage we would consider working with was Compass,” Veteto said in a statement. “We have found success and love being an independent luxury boutique company. Now, we look forward to all that Panashe can achieve through its partnership with Compass, including all of the benefits and technology that a brokerage can offer our clients.
Panashe agent Laura Crutchfield added: “Partnering with Compass was an obvious choice because of the vast resources the company provides and how they prioritize supporting their agents.”
Jeff Polashuk, regional vice president of Compass, said Panashe embodies “Compass’ high standards and quality service.”
In the second quarter of 2024, Compass added 543 principal agents organically and approximately 2,375 principal agents through the acquisitions of Latter & Blum and Parks Real Estate, the company reported in quarterly earnings.
Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Compass acquired Sequel Real Estate Group, Coastal Island Properties and Panashe Real Estate, however, those groups joined the company without a legal acquisition.
