Forward Bojan Miovski left Aberdeen for a club-record fee of £6.8 million to join Spanish club Girona.
The 25-year-old North Macedonia international joined Pittodrie from MTK Budapest in 2022 for around £600,000 and has scored 44 goals in 97 games.
His £6.8 million move to La Liga exceeds the £6.5 million Aberdeen received when they sold right-back Calvin Ramsey to Liverpool in June 2022.
Miovski’s contract with Girona runs until the summer of 2028. Girona ranked third behind Real Madrid and Barcelona last season and will participate in the Champions League this season.
‘A good deal for Aberdeen’
Dons chief executive Alan Burrows said: “Bojan has been an excellent No.9 for Aberdeen and while we are obviously sad to lose him, we are also delighted that he has achieved such an exciting career. move.
“This deal is also a good thing for the club and further strengthens the player trading strategy that Dave Cormack and the board have adopted and promoted over a number of seasons. This model means the club will plan to make significant progress in football every season. More investment in wages and football wages.
“This obviously relies on deals like Bojan’s, where all proceeds will be reinvested in our football division and as chief executive I’d like to thank our investor group for supporting this strategy, whose cash flow will continue to grow as the season progresses. ability to change.
“Our focus remains on developing our own players through our academy, whilst supplementing this with smart recruitment from around the world, with the aim of driving Aberdeen Football Club to football success.
“We have added six players during this window and our recruitment department, together with the head coach, will continue to explore ways to strengthen the squad between now and the end of this month.”
