This spring has been great for Chase Collier.
Since the start of the new year, the two-way prospect out of Bolles School in Jacksonville, Fla., has reached new levels in his college football recruiting. On Wednesday, Duke became his latest scholarship recipient. Vanderbilt enrolls in late April, followed by MSU, Kansas and several other programs.
Now, the rising senior is making plans for official visits to the Final Four, with two of those trips already locked in.
MSU will begin hosting wide receiver projections on June 14, and KU will begin his trip on June 19.
Collier, who also prefers the offense at this stage, has been working to build relationships with new coaches he has his eye on. The Blue Devil tender has him excited about the program’s on-field and off-field takeaways.
“I haven’t been to Duke yet, but what I’ve heard from coach Gabe (Infant) is that this school is a unique school and similar to my school academically and athletically,” he said explain. “What he told me about Duke was great to know!”
MSU offered the job the first week of April, and multiple coaches in East Lansing have been on the job since.
“I haven’t been there, but my relationship with coaches (Cordell) Grundy, (Shawn) Levy and (Courtney) Hawkins is going great,” Collier said. “They take the players very seriously and the academic level is very high. I hope to have a great time on my official visit and build relationships with more of the staff.”
Jayhawks staff made the offer two weeks ago, but communication with Collier has steadily increased.
“Coach Terrence Samuel was a good guy and the way he introduced the school to me and how he handled the players is something that I will remember forever,” he said. “I have a great relationship with him and hopefully my trust is important to him. Hopefully I can gain more relationships from their staff…”
As a junior in the Class of 2023, Collier ran a 10.78 100-meter dash this spring and as a pass catcher he helped Bolles reach the state playoffs again with 571 yards and six touchdowns. He also got one goal back for the team during the campaign.
