Hollywood stars Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are divorcing after two years of marriage.
Lopez filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, according to court documents seen by the BBC.
The couple, dubbed Bennifer by the tabloids, officially tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022 and held a larger wedding in Georgia the following month.
Their romance began when they met on the set of the 2003 crime film “Geely.” They originally planned to get married that year, but called off their relationship in early 2004.
Some twenty years later, they rekindled their relationship.
“Love is beautiful. Love is kind. It turns out, love is patient. Twenty years of patience,” Lopez said after announcing her 2022 wedding in Las Vegas.
The BBC has contacted their representatives for comment.
A court filing in the case said Lopez or her attorney must notify Affleck and provide a copy of the petition to dissolve the marriage.
Media reported that Lopez had legally changed her last name to Affleck, but she did not list any details of the prenuptial agreement in her divorce filing.
A Los Angeles Superior Court filing in the case said Lopez, 55, and Affleck, 52, must share financial information, including their current income, expenses, properties and debts.
Both parties must disclose any changes in their financial circumstances “until a final agreement is reached on all financial issues in your case,” the document said.
The court gave Lopez 60 days to submit financial disclosures, and Affleck will have another 60 days to submit financial information after submitting the information.
Failure to report or update financial information could result in court sanctions, the filing said.
There have been months of speculation about their relationship. They are reportedly selling their Beverly Hills mansion for $65m (£50m) and were photographed separately without their wedding rings.
Alfred, a two-time Oscar winner, was previously married to actress Jennifer Garner, whom he met on the set of the 2001 romance film “Pearl Harbor.” They split in 2015 after ten years of marriage and have three children together.
Lopez has been married four times, first to Cuban-born waiter Ojani Noa in 1997-98 and then to her former backup dancer Chris Ja from 2001-03 Cris Judd; she was married to singer Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014, with whom she gave birth to twins.
The singer and actress, whose name is J.Lo, was also engaged to New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez.
