Freya Kemp will return to the England women’s team for the upcoming Vitality IT20 and Metro Bank ODI series against Pakistan after the white-ball squad was confirmed on Friday.
Left-arm spinner Linsey Smith has been named again after returning to the New Zealand senior squad for the IT20 series, which begins with Heather Knight’s side at Edgbaston on Saturday 11 May. After a three-match IT20 series, England play in front of nearly 20,000 fans heading into the IT20 Women’s Ashes in July 2023.
They then travel to Northampton’s County Ground before finishing in Headingley, all live Sky Sports.
The series is immediately followed by three ODIs against the same opponents in Derby, Taunton and Chelmsford, live Sky Sports.
England beat New Zealand 4-1 in March and 2-1 last month.
Head coach Jon Lewis said, “We are very excited to start the summer in our hometown. It’s great to start summer sports right here in our hometown.
“Edgbaston is an incredible place to play cricket, the atmosphere is always special and it will be a great occasion. I know the team are looking forward to playing at stadiums across the country throughout the series. We play in front of our fans.
“Following last year’s Ashes success, it’s great to see the England men’s and women’s teams competing together again.
“These two series against Pakistan give us an opportunity to build, develop and ensure we are in the best possible position for the World Cup in Bangladesh in September.
“We are keen to ensure wherever possible that all players in contention for the World Cup squad have the opportunity to play cricket this summer so that their performance can help secure a place in the Bangladesh team.”
