Did you know that when someone blocks you on X (formerly Twitter), they can still reply to your posts? This opens up the potential for abuse, with someone blocking you and then defaming, impersonating, or otherwise insulting you on the same platform without you seeing it.
Now, X is changing the way blocking works. On Thursday, the company’s engineering account explained the changes as follows: “If a user who blocked you replies to your post, you will now be able to see their response. This change enables you to identify and report any potentially objectionable content. Content that you have not been able to view before, thereby protecting your account and the overall integrity of our platform.

X Boss Musk Said before The blocking feature on the X is “meaningless” and it will be “removed as a ‘feature’ outside of DM”. While that hasn’t happened yet, X appears to be working on changing the neighborhood’s function until it’s more in line with Musk’s idea of the platform serving as a “public town square.”

Twitter/X may charge a ‘small fee’ to all new users before they can post, like and reply
“Our goal is to give users control over their experience while maintaining public visibility of posts,” the X Engineering team’s post added.
One unanswered question remains: reporting abuse on X doesn’t seem to do much. I’ve reported many scam accounts over the past few months, and they seem to keep popping up. The company’s strategy of charging users for a blue “verified” checkmark hasn’t done much to solve the problem either.
