A Walmart deli worker has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon.
Hurdler Dylan Beard qualified for the Olympic trials after finishing first in the 60m hurdles at the Millrose Olympics in February.
Unlike other Olympic athletes who train full-time and have sponsorships, Beard has yet to secure sponsorships and supports himself by working as a deli worker at Walmart.
David Davis, Beard’s Walmart manager, shared, “Dylan’s work ethic is on another level. He always provides great customer service. He goes above and beyond, just like he does on the track.”

According to AOL:
Beard is a hurdler who will compete for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team at the 2024 Summer Games in Paris. He also happens to have a full-time job working at the deli counter at Walmart.
Beard was a surprise winner in the 60m hurdles at the Millrose Games in February.
“I think I came in more relaxed and had nothing to lose and a lot to gain,” he said in an interview with Today that aired on April 26.
His performance in the race made him the third-fastest hurdler in the world and qualified him for the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon, in June. After a strong performance at the Millrose Olympics, Beard returned to his normal life.
