Two days of heavy rain in northern Haiti have killed at least 13 people, officials said.
Most of the deaths were caused by landslides southeast of the coastal city of Cap-Haitien, Haiti’s Civil Defense said in a statement Thursday.

More than 2,200 houses were flooded and livestock was swept away by the Haut-Cap River, causing significant damage, authorities said.
Crews are clearing roads in northern Haiti as more rain is expected in the coming days.

Heavy rain also hit neighboring Puerto Rico, forcing at least a dozen flights scheduled to land in the capital, San Juan, to be diverted to the Dominican Republic and elsewhere, officials said Friday.
Massive flooding has also been reported across the United States.
