Regular viewers of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” may be familiar with the name, which is associated with the criminal case against Ohtani Shohei’s former translator Mizuhara Ippei.
Ryan Boyajian starred in all 17 episodes of the long-running reality show last season, playing actor Jennifer Pedranti’s boyfriend, according to an ESPN report citing unnamed sources. was the middleman between Suwon and alleged illegal bookmaker Mathew Bowyer.
According to ESPN, Boyajian is the person named “Assistant No. 1” in the federal complaint against Suwon. The complaint alleges that Suwon was ordered to make wire transfer payments to a bank account in the name of “Colleague No. 1” to repay gambling debts. According to ESPN, Bowyer and Boyajian had used the account in real estate projects.
The complaint alleges that between February 2022 and October 2023, the account received at least $15 million in wire transfer payments from the account of “Victim A,” known as Ohtani. According to the plea agreement, Suwon made the payment without “Victim A’s” knowledge because the former translator changed the email address and phone number on file for Ohtani’s bank account to his own.
The U.S. Justice Department said Wednesday that Suwon has agreed to plead guilty in federal court to stealing millions of dollars from Ohtani to pay off gambling debts. Mizuhara is accused of stealing more than $17 million from the Dodgers star.
Last month, federal authorities cleared Mr. Ohtani of any wrongdoing in the matter.
Boyajian’s attorney, Steven Katzman, declined to answer emailed questions from The Times about the matter “given that my client is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.”
“He’s not a bookmaker or a sub-bookmaker,” Katzman told ESPN of Boyanjian.
Multiple sources told ESPN that Boyajian was granted immunity for testifying. Bowyer was not named in the indictment against Suwon and was not charged with a crime.
Pedranti and Boyajian announced their engagement to People magazine last month.
