The body of a 62-year-old Minnesota man was found Friday, partially submerged in the water, in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in the northern part of the state.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Fox News Digital that the man, Mark Ham, was spotted by canoeists who called 911 around 5 p.m.
Hamm’s family told law enforcement that Hamm was not wearing a life jacket and that he had been canoeing alone. A life jacket was found at the scene.

“As the Minnesota fishing season begins this weekend, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and rescue teams would like to remind everyone to wear life jackets when out on the water this summer enjoying their favorite water recreation,” the department said in a release. middle.
