Louisiana is often considered one of the elite states for producing college and NFL talent. The currently high-profile 2025 and 2026 classes are a pair of strong classes, each featuring multiple five-star and elite four-star prospects.
What caught my eye recently was the 2027 outlook that emerged from Boot.
Louisiana is known for its skill talent and physicality in the trenches and occasionally has some top quarterbacks. After seeing some of the young talent in the state, the 2027 graduate class could see some elite quarterback prospects emerge from Louisiana.
Houston is the best on this team and the most recruited this time around. Houston has 14 offers from Texas A&M, Arkansas, TCU, Texas Tech, SMU, Mississippi State and the University of Mississippi, among others.
At 6 feet tall and 192 pounds, his relatively small frame does not limit his game in any way. His delivery was smooth and very accurate. Had limited performance as a freshman, but was ready for big numbers and production as a sophomore.
Earlier this offseason, he performed well in the Elite 11 regional tournament in Austin and was one of the best players of the day at Dallas’ opponent’s training camp, which earned him a Ballon d’Or. He’s not ranked yet, but he looks to be one of the top prospects in the state and country.
Last week, I met Baton Rouge (La.) Dunham School quarterback Elijah Haven for the first time. Standing 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 210 pounds, he is tall and athletic. While his technique and ball position still need some work, his potential is huge. He already has offers from Florida State, Mississippi State, Texas Tech, Baylor and Miami.
It will be interesting to see how much more Haven can grow. Already weighing 210 pounds by the end of his freshman year, could we see him move up to 220 pounds? 230? Or maybe we’ll see him reach 6’6″? 6’7″? That will be something to monitor over time to predict his future at the quarterback position.
Harvin will be a popular name when he attends training camp and gets in front of college coaches this summer. Expect the deals to keep coming.
Malachi Ziggler is a name I’ve recently come across. Ziegler, who hails from the Benton-Shreveport, La., area, probably has the biggest team of them all. I haven’t been able to see him in person yet, but in the film, he can bomb it.
He hasn’t received any offers yet, but LSU, Mississippi State, Solskjaer State, Mississippi State, Tulane, Memphis, Los Angeles Tech and ULM are all on the market this offseason or More or less contact.
Ziegler is 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, so he will be another one to turn heads when visiting campus.
