David Copperfield has dismissed “false and vulgar accusations” of inappropriate behavior against a number of women.
Copperfield, whose full name is David Seth Kotkin, was accused by 16 women in a decades-long investigation, the Guardian reported. More than half of the victims claimed they were under 18 when the incident occurred.
Before the allegations were published, Copperfield “denied any form of wrongdoing” to the Guardian, and his lawyers said Copperfield had “never behaved inappropriately towards anyone, let alone any future Adults”.
Copperfield’s representatives continued to deny the claims in a statement provided to Fox News Digital. “Everyone who knew David Copperfield will tell you that these recent allegations by a newspaper are completely contrary to who David is,” his rep said.

“Indeed, David has a record of risking his career to help protect women from powerful predators. Most of these historic accusations have been made before, all of which are as false now as they were then. David is asking for ‘ Evidence’ of the facts upon which these false accusations are claimed has not yet been provided.
They added, “In contrast, whenever US law enforcement investigates such matters, they investigate thoroughly, only to find that there is no case at all to answer. The Guardian’s description is not who David is,” he continued. Support anyone who has experienced any form of abuse or discrimination.

“This campaign must succeed, but the false accusations must stop in order to thrive. David will consider this position with his legal team and will take appropriate action in response to these false and vulgar accusations.”

Reports say Copperfield is accused of drugging three women before having sex with them when they believed they were unable to consent.
A spokesman for the Guardian said: “The Guardian has produced rigorous, fact-checked reporting on the 16 women who have accused Copperfield of sexual misconduct and misconduct, based on interviews with more than 100 people, court reports and and police records, as well as contemporaneous corroboration of the women’s stories.
The accusations against the famous magician date from the late 1980s to 2014.
Copperfield was named in unsealed Jeffrey Epstein court documents in January. Lawyer Sigrid Macaulay asked Epstein’s accuser Johanna Sjöberg and his former lover and co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell if they had met Copperfield.
“Yes,” she said. The document was part of a May 2016 deposition.

“Someone called me from home and said he would be there and if I wanted to come to dinner then I could meet him,” Sjoberg said. “So when I got to the house, he wasn’t there yet … and there was another girl there that I had never seen or seen before. She looked very young.”
Sjoberg later said Copperfield “performed some magic” at the dinner and said he was a friend of Epstein’s.Sjoberg said Copperfield, who had previously been accused of sexual assault Attacked a teenage model in 1988, She questioned whether she “knew girls would be paid to find other girls,” court documents said.
“Did he tell you the specifics?” McCauley asked, to which Sjoberg responded: “No.”
