Glen Powell’s parents teased their son on the red carpet at the release of his new film “The Killing.”
The 35-year-old actor attended a special screening of the film at the Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday and was inducted into the Texas Hall of Fame.
However, his parents, Cyndy Powell and Glen Powell Sr., stole the show on the red carpet, holding up cardboard signs and teasing their son behind his back as he posed for photos.
Cindy’s sign read, “Stop trying to make Glen Powell happen,” while Glenn Sr.’s sign read, “This will never happen.”

Powell seemed to take his parents’ antics in stride as he was photographed smiling in front of the sign.
In one photo, the “Top Gun: Maverick” star raised his arms and smiled while his parents flanked him waving their signs.
During the screening, Powell shared his reaction to his parents’ move in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“Well, my family — my mom and dad, all the time — have a reputation for teasing me,” he said. Powell explained that the saying on the sign was inspired by the mean posts fans wrote about him on X.
“I don’t read tweets, but my parents do, so if you’re talking shit, please know that my parents are reading these tweets,” the actor told ET.
“They thought it would be a fun idea, so I loved it,” he added. “Even though they laughed at me, they supported me in every way.”

Powell stars in “The Killing” alongside Adria Arjona, Austin Amelio, Sanjay Rao and Reita, and he also co-wrote and co-produced the film with director Richard Linklater .
In March, the Austin Film Society announced that Powell, who is from Austin, will be inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame at a screening of the film.
An emotional Powell took the stage to accept the honor, thanking her parents for their support.
“Having great parents is an incredible thing,” he said.
Powell also noted that his parents enjoyed sharing the spotlight with him.

“They’ve been in cameos in every movie I’ve ever made,” he said, adding that Cindy and Glenn Saint made their first cameos in his debut film, Spies 3-D: Game Over.
During a December appearance on “The Tonight Show,” Powell joked about his parents’ cameos in the film, noting that they made a brief appearance in his romantic comedy “Anyone But You,” which he co-wrote with Sidney Sweeney. .

“Initially, they were really excited about me getting a new role and new stuff,” Powell said. “Now all they care about is what they’re going to do in the movie.”
“It’s like having a Nebo baby, they’re more like Mama Nebo and Papa Nebo,” he quipped.
