Manchester City’s Phil Foden has been named the Premier League’s best player this season.
The 23-year-old has scored 17 goals and eight assists for Premier League leaders Manchester City this season and was named Player of the Year by Football Writers earlier this month.
Foden won the Premier League Young Player of the Season award twice in 2021 and 2022, and competed with Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, Martin Odegaard, Cole Palmer, Dirk Len Rice, Virgil van Dijk and Ollie Watkins are among the nominees for major awards this year.
The award is decided by a combination of public voting and football expert voting.
After winning the award, Foden said: “Winning this award is an achievement that I am very proud of.
“The Premier League is widely recognized as the greatest league in the world and it’s great to be nominated alongside so many other great players who have all enjoyed special seasons with their respective clubs.
“Overall, I’m very happy with my performance this season and happy that I was able to contribute goals and assists throughout the season.
“I would like to thank all the Manchester City staff, coaches and especially my team-mates because without them none of this would be possible. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who voted for me because this award means a lot. “
Palmer named young player of the season

The 22-year-old has scored or assisted 32 goals this season and is at the top of a shortlist of eight stars, including Arsenal’s two-star star.
