A knife attack at a primary school in southern China’s Jiangxi province left two people dead and 10 injured, police said.
It was unclear whether children were among the casualties.
The attack took place at around noon (04:00 GMT) at a school in the city of Guixi.
Police said the murderer was a 45-year-old woman who used a fruit knife. She was taken into custody, police added in a statement on social media.
It was unclear why the primary school, which teaches children aged 6 to 12 in China, was targeted.
There have been a number of knife attacks in China in recent months. In May last year, a man stabbed two people to death and injured 21 others at a hospital in the southern province of Yunnan.
In August last year, a man with a history of mental illness attacked others with a knife in a residential area in Yunnan, killing two people and injuring seven others.
In July of the same year, a stabbing incident occurred in a kindergarten in Guangdong Province, killing six people, including three children.
