this kentucky wildcats There was a surprising amount of success in recruiting Wednesday.
CLEVELAND (Ohio) Cleveland Heights four-star running back Marquis Davis has committed to the team. The Rivals250 prospect immediately became one of the top players in the Wildcats’ 2025 recruiting class. Davis received nearly 30 scholarship offers from across the country.
Davis is Kentucky’s sixth commit and second running back after three-star Isaiah West.
What the Wildcats Get
The Cleveland Heights star is a running back who can do it all. This will make him a very useful member of the Wildcats’ offense. He’s a physical 6-foot-1, 195-pound runner who looks like a four-star running back.
As a third-year player, Davis rushed for 2,228 yards, 8.8 yards per carry, and 35 touchdowns in 13 games, which was very efficient. He was also a two-way player in high school and had 63 tackles, which shows he’s a very physical player.
He was just at Under Armor training camp in Ohio, where we got to meet him in person. Although he told opponents after training camp that he needed to work on his routes, he showed good ability to create separation and catch the ball one-on-one.
Davis has the potential to be a three-down back in the SEC.
Why this matters to Kentucky
When Rivals spoke with Davis after training camp last Sunday, he did say Kentucky was one of the schools that stood out to him. Michigan is one of the other schools he has earmarked, and the Wolverines are thought to have a big advantage in his recruitment. It’s a huge win for Vince Morrow and running backs coach Jay Bulwer.
Davis is looking for a place where he can get better as a man and football player. He likes the way Kentucky utilizes its running backs the way NFL teams do.
Another thing that can’t be overlooked is that Kentucky drafted some major-conference running backs from Big Ten country. Davis recently visited Kentucky, Tennessee, and Missouri, so the team also kept him away from SEC opponents.
