The best turkey burger recipe ever!
Fun fact: I didn’t eat red meat until I was 21 years old. I finally came around to it in my early twenties, but after years of eating turkey burgers, I personally prefer them to traditional beef burgers.
However, turkey burgers need to be done right to ensure they are comparable to beef burgers. It’s all about getting the perfect balance of ingredients, not just stuffing the burger with breadcrumbs (no breadcrumbs in this recipe!). Using quality meats and fresh herbs is definitely the way to go.
So after years of perfecting turkey burgers, I thought I’d share my personal favorite juicy turkey burger recipe. So what makes this turkey burger recipe so great?
- they are very healthy – Ground turkey has less saturated fat than traditional ground beef burgers, making it a healthier option as far as burgers go.
- They are gluten free – No bread crumbs in this recipe! This helps prevent the turkey burgers from drying out while also making them gluten-free (as long as you use gluten-free Worcestershire sauce)
- Packed full of flavor – We use very simple ingredients, but they’re all high quality, so they really work.
Required raw materials
- ground turkey – You need to use lean turkey (usually 93-94%)
- shallots – Make sure it’s shredded! You can also use yellow onions if you can find them.
- garlic cloves – Use fresh if possible.
- Worcestershire Sauce – Most are gluten-free, but if you are gluten-free or have celiac disease, be sure to double-check the ingredients.
- Egg – This helps bind the patties together.
- fresh parsley – I like to use fresh herbs instead of dried, but if you can’t find fresh herbs you can use dried parsley or Italian seasoning.
- salt+pepper – Makes the flavor more rounded.
- hamburger – or lettuce bread. You can also eat these turkey pot pies on their own!
How to Make the Juiciest Turkey Burgers
Step 1: Mix ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey with all pie ingredients until well combined.
Step 2: Shape into patties
Using your hands, form mixture into 5 turkey patties and flatten onto a parchment-lined baking sheet or plate.
Step 3: Cook the rice
Preheat a pan, griddle or grill to medium-high heat. Place patties directly on pan or grill and cook 4-6 minutes per side, or until no longer pink inside and internal temperature reaches 165° F.
Step 4: Serve
Remove from pan or grill, place directly on bread and serve with desired toppings.
Can I bake them?
What I love about this recipe is that it can be easily made on the stovetop or grill. You need to set your grill to around 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Your turkey burgers are done when they are no longer pink inside and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
How to serve Türkiye burger
I like to serve my turkey burgers like a traditional ground beef burger: on a bun with all the toppings! But here are some ideas on how to serve you:
- vegetable – Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, etc…
- condiment– Ketchup, mustard, aioli, relish and other condiments
- sliced cheese – added in the last minute of cooking to help it melt
- avocado – You can’t go wrong with avocado!
Storage instructions
refrigerator: You can store cooked turkey burgers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Simply reheat in the microwave or stove.
Freezing Tips
You can also freeze turkey burgers. You can freeze the burgers before or after cooking (I recommend freezing before cooking to preserve freshness). Simply place the parchment-lined baking sheet directly into the refrigerator for 1 hour. Remove each burger and wrap in plastic wrap. Store in ziplock bag. You can thaw the turkey burgers in the refrigerator overnight. Once defrosted, cook as directed.
