Four people were killed and 21 injured after a two-storey building collapsed in Mallorca, emergency services said.
Several people are believed to be trapped at the site of Medusa Beach Club, a seaside restaurant on Cartago Street in Palma de Mallorca.
According to reports, the incident occurred at around 20:30 local time (19:30 BST).
Local emergency services said psychologists had also been called to the scene.
Witnesses told local media that many of the people inside the building when it collapsed were tourists. May is the start of the region’s peak tourist season.
The mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, is said to have traveled to the scene together with the deputy mayor of tourism.
The president of the Balearic Islands, Marga Prons, said she was shocked by the incident and expressed her condolences to the families of the victims.
Ms Prons also thanked emergency services and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez for their support.
