President Biden said Friday after former President Donald Trump was found guilty in a New York criminal trial that “he will have an opportunity to appeal the decision, just like he should, just like everyone else has that opportunity.” Same.
Biden added that it was “reckless, dangerous, and irresponsible for anyone to say it was rigged just because they didn’t like the verdict.”
On Thursday, a jury convicted Trump of all 34 counts of first-degree falsification of business records.
Trump’s campaign warned Biden on Friday to “buckle up” following the verdict.
“Crooked Joe Biden and the Democrats locked President Trump in court for more than eight hours a day for more than six weeks, and he still won,” Trump campaign spokesperson Carolyn Leavitt told Fox Digital News “Now that he’s fully back on track, Biden and the Democrats better buckle up. ”
Later, at a press conference at Trump Tower in New York, the former president said he “wanted to testify on his own behalf” but “theoretically you would never testify.”
“This is very important and way beyond my capabilities,” Trump said of the case. “This cannot be allowed to happen to another president. This should never be allowed to happen in the future. But this is way beyond the scope of my capabilities.” The scope of my abilities. This is more important than Trump. This is more important than my presidency,” he said.
Trump’s campaign also announced Friday that $34.8 million had been raised in the hours following the sentencing, from 6 p.m. ET to midnight Thursday.
They said the amount was “nearly double the largest single day ever for the Trump campaign on the WinRed platform” and stressed that the guilty verdict “awakened the MAGA movement like never before.”
