Scottish authorities have been urged to launch a criminal investigation into Donald Trump’s properties in Scotland.

Scotland’s most senior legal officials are being urged to heed long-running calls for an investigation into the sources of funds supporting the purchase of a flagship international resort after Donald Trump became the first former US president to be convicted of a criminal offence.

Global activist organization Avaaz unsuccessfully filed a judicial review application with the Supreme Court to impose an unexplained wealth order (UWO) against Trump in 2021. The agency said it was unclear what additional evidence Attorney General Dorothy Bain KC needed.
In March, people involved in Trump’s plans for Scotland confirmed that the former president deceived Scotland by promising $1 billion in investment in exchange for easing environmental regulations and other incentives, but then delivered nothing.
People in Scotland have long wondered where Trump got the money to buy Scottish goods and whether he laundered the money.
Questions about Trump’s activities in Scotland have returned after a Manhattan jury found him guilty. New York is a great example of how difficult it is to investigate Trump and the rewards that a dogged pursuit of a man who appears to be one of the world’s biggest liars and a former president of the United States can pay off to the public.
