A year after Spotify first raised the price of Spotify Premium in the U.S., it’s happening again. Next month, U.S. Spotify subscribers will start receiving an email detailing price increases for Premium, Duo and Family plans. Spotify Premium now costs $11.99 per month, up from the $10.99 per month announced last year.
If you’re a Spotify Duo subscriber, the monthly cost will increase by $2, from $14.99 to $16.99 per month. Home will also increase from $16.99 per month to $19.99 per month. This means that Spotify Duo subscription prices have increased by 30% in one year compared to the price before last year’s increase. Spotify Family also grew by 25% in one year, with Spotify Premium growing by 20%.
“To allow us to continue investing in and innovating product features and delivering the best experience for our users, we will occasionally update our prices,” Spotify said in a blog post announcing the price changes. “Next month, subscriptions in the U.S. Subscribers will receive an email explaining what this update means for their subscription.”
Spotify announced price increases for its international subscribers last month, so these price increases don’t just affect U.S. subscribers. Bloomberg It was reported last month that Spotify is also said to still be planning to launch its “Supremium” plan, with lossless streaming and other features. In recent months, some Spotify users have even noticed the Dolby Atmos logo appearing on the app’s “Now Playing” screen, suggesting this may be part of the Supreme feature set.
