Meta may soon release a budget version of Meta Quest 3, which may be called Meta Quest 3 Lite or Quest 3s (with the obviously intentional lowercase s). According to @Lunayian on Twitter, the new VR headset will offer many of the features of the Quest 3 at a lower price.

The new, lighter Quest is said to blend the specs of the Quest 3 with the more economical design of the Quest 2 and is intended to replace the nearly four-year-old device. The company has been tight-lipped about Meta Quest 3 since it was first announced in October, and we can expect to hear more at the tech giant’s Meta Quest gaming showcase on June 1.

The Quest Lite is rumored to be a more powerful Quest 2, so you can expect a lower price than the flagship Quest 3. USD to USD 299.

Although an official release date has not yet been announced, industry insiders speculate that Meta Quest 3 Lite may be unveiled at Meta’s June game showcase. Considering the timing of the recent leaks, announcements and subsequent releases in the coming months seem reasonable.
Meta Quest 3 Lite Edition Specifications
According to reports, Quest 3 Lite will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset, similar to Quest 3. However, it has a lower screen resolution of 1,832 x 1,920 pixels per eye compared to the Quest 3’s 2,064 x 2,208 pixels.

Other downgrades include a Fresnel lens system (which means visible concentric rings may appear during use) instead of a pancake lens, and simplified eye relief adjustment with only three setting positions. Despite these compromises, the new headset will retain advanced tracking ring-free controllers and two 4MP RGB pass-through cameras for full-color mixed reality.
