Tell us about a high point in your brokerage career
The highest points of my career have come from what seemed like the lowest times. After many years of great success as a top agent, I was blindsided by the market crash, divorce, and the loss of everything I loved and knew. My niche was short sales (even before they were widely recognized) and I used that expertise to survive and rebuild.
I joined a law firm and negotiated for people across the country. It was challenging and frustrating and I could barely pay the bills, but I was making a difference in people’s lives in ways I never had before.
One night I prayed for another chance and promised I wouldn’t question it if the opportunity came. The next morning, I received a call from a headhunter who found my resume online. She asked me if I would be interested in a contract position conducting an IFR (Independent Foreclosure Review) audit of a major bank for the government.
I agreed before she finished speaking. She mentioned a warning that might change my mind, but I assured her it wouldn’t. She laughed and said they needed me to go to Florida in two weeks, but no relocation assistance was offered. I said yes.
We hung up the phone, I looked up, said thank you, and a week and a half later I was packing up a U-Haul with three dogs in the front seat and a car trailer attached, and I was On the road. This position is highly confidential and I don’t know where to report, so I don’t know where to find accommodation.
After a few small miracles, I started my new job. My short selling background helped me secure one of 50 positions in the United States, ultimately leading to over 70 new titles and certifications in various areas of business risk, mortgages, banking, and real estate.
There is much more to this story that I myself would not believe if I had not experienced it. Ultimately, what I thought was the end of my real estate career turned out to be the real beginning.
What is your biggest prediction for 2024?
All of these new changes in the real estate industry will ultimately bring us all back to our all-important core and basics.

What’s the one thing you wish every agent knew?
