Apple Music is rolling out a new “advanced” data analytics toolkit for its label and distribution partners.
The new Apple Music Partner Program provides Apple Music partners with tools to track trends on their streaming service and global radio programming using Shazam technology.
According to the platform’s landing page, it offers “access to [to] More tools to break through to your next talent, discover emerging trends, and discover new insights about your content.”
Apple Music already operates another analytics platform in Apple Music For Artists, which was made available to every artist on Apple Music in August 2019.
Apple Music For Artists lets artists monitor their streaming numbers on Apple Music, all in a data set that is updated daily.
Spotify launched its own Spotify For Artists app in 2017 (an evolution of the “Fan Insights” tool launched two years ago) to provide artists and their teams with information about their popularity on the service.
Like Spotify for Artists, the Apple Music For Artists service is available as a desktop interface or as a standalone mobile application.
The new Apple Music Partner Program is available through a combination of dashboard and API. The platform does not currently offer a mobile app.
According to the landing page, it offers an “advanced” analytics dashboard, as well as an “advanced support” service that gives labels and publishers access to a dedicated Apple Music support team to perform tasks such as setting up the music API, updating artists’ Apple Music, and more. Task setting file, or upload content.
Members will also “receive invitations to exclusive virtual events,” Apple Music said on the program’s website.
The Apple Music Partner Program also offers a tool called “Chart Explorer” that allows access to more than 4,500 Apple Music delivers nearly instantaneous rankings from more than 270 countries, regions, and cities across 60 genres.
The chart browser also includes Apple Music historical charts so labels and publishers can track artist milestones.
At the same time, the Apple Music partner program “Radio Spins” tool uses Shazam technology to monitor more than 40,000 Radio stations from more than 200 countries and regions around the world.
Apple Music will also begin publishing global radio charts publicly on Apple Music and Shazam.com. These services are available to Apple Music subscribers and Shazam.com users worldwide starting today (May 9).
Meanwhile, the Live Listener tool monitors and reports artists and their live listenership for each song.
The “Apple Music Atlas” tool provides detailed music information on more than 100 million recordings from more than 35 million albums and more than 15 million artists.
Apple Music’s new partner program begins today (May 9), initially for a limited number of labels and music publishers in the United States that distribute directly to Apple Music. Believe is a pilot partner for the new initiative.
“We’ve been testing this promising new toolkit for some time and look forward to opening pathways through this collaboration to bring more artists to the fore and expand their reach on Apple Music and beyond.”
