ASML (NASDAQ: ASMLAccording to Bloomberg, Samsung Electronics (OTCPK:SSNLF) will supply the latest chip manufacturing systems to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSM) and Samsung Electronics (OTCPK:SSNLF) this year.
Shares in the Dutch company rose by approx. 8% It debuted on Nasdaq on Wednesday. ASML is now the second largest company in the market Capitalization in Europe.
The report quoted ASML Chief Financial Officer Roger Dassen as saying that by the end of 2024, ASML’s three major customers TSM, Samsung and Intel (INTC) will all have access to high numerical aperture extreme ultraviolet lithography systems, that is, high NA EUV systems. , during a recent conference call.
In April this year, Intel said that after decades of cooperation with the Dutch company, Intel assembled the industry’s first high numerical aperture EUV system developed by ASML (ASML) at its Oregon factory.
It is unclear when TSM, ASML’s largest EUV customer, will receive the equipment, the report said.
The report points out that ASML’s new machine can imprint semiconductors with 8-nanometer-thick lines, which is 1.7 times smaller than the previous generation, and will be used to manufacture chips that power artificial intelligence, applications and advanced consumer electronics.
Each system costs 350 million euros (about $380 million) and weighs about the same as two Airbus A320s.
TSM expressed concerns about the price of the system. “I like the capabilities of high numerical aperture EUV, but I don’t like the price tag,” TSM senior vice president Kevin Zhang said in Amsterdam in May.
The Taiwanese company’s A16 node technology, due to be launched in late 2026, does not require the use of ASML’s High-NA EUV machines and can continue to work on TSM’s older EUV equipment, Zhang said.
Analysts noted after a call with Dassen that ASML still believes 2025 revenue is likely to be in the upper half of the guidance range.
The report added that Jefferies analysts pointed out that ASML’s average orders in the remaining three quarters of 2024 are likely to be approximately 5.7B euros, driving sales to 40B euros in 2025.
