As the industry’s most powerful and smartest cabin power system for charging passenger electronics, EmPower Ultralite G2 is designed for use with aircraft original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and is ideally suited for retrofit applications. This makes it ideal for airlines with mixed fleets who want to provide a consistent passenger experience.
“Our goal is to meet the market demand for high-power USB Type C with a lighter weight solution,” said Jon Neal, President of Astronics AES (NYSE:). “While we are optimistic about industry adoption, the overall market Response areas, aircraft platforms, and installed applications exceeded our expectations.
Astronics’ latest system, EmPower Ultralite G2, uses a decentralized partitioning architecture to leverage next-generation power and seat system intelligence with over 93% efficiency. As a result, the system combines USB Type A and the latest USB Type C sockets to deliver up to 60W of power per seat. This allows for maximum flexibility and airline customization while reducing overall system and per-seat weight by 30 to 40 percent compared to other power solutions currently installed.
Astronics’ customer-centric focus and vision supports hundreds of airline customers and their partners in advancing their aerospace carbon neutrality plans while striving to reduce environmental impact.
