One battleground pollster who is completing a survey of swing states said the data showed Biden was not hurt by the debate.
Jeff Garlin posted:
I’m about to finish my second post-debate battleground state polling, and both surveys show the same thing: The debate had no impact on vote choice. This election was very close and competitive before the debate, and it remains very close and competitive today.
The polls that have been released show that Biden has nothing to lose and Trump has nothing to gain, so if this data is correct, why are some Democrats rather than Trump Republicans so eager to unseat Biden?
There are several possible reasons why those who are considered relatively logical and sane want to ignite the Democratic Party and trigger a destructive wave of chaos that could result in Democrats losing the election down the ballot.
The first explanation is unfounded panic. There are now decades of academic research showing that debates have no impact on election outcomes. The debates have as much impact on the outcome of the election as a presidential candidate’s guest appearance on “Saturday Night Live.” Polling data released so far are consistent with the research findings.
The debate is irrelevant and unimportant, whether it is necessary or not is worthy of discussion.
If a debate is held, it means nothing. Why should we worry? There has to be a better way to connect with voters, because that doesn’t seem to be the case for televised debates considering debate ratings are set to drop by a third in 2024.
Second, the charge to overturn Biden appears to be dominated by white people. The Democratic Party is the party with a majority of women. White people are not responsible. Even though Joe Biden is white, he is not reshaping the Democratic Party in his own image.
White people haven’t controlled the party in decades and they really want to be in control so if they push Biden and Harris away they think they can be the king and queen makers they think they are.
Democrats may also be experiencing some 2016 flashbacks. Some Democratic elites thought felony convictions would give Trump an easy win, but they were wrong.
Trump’s felony convictions don’t matter in this deeply polarized country. Biden’s debate performance didn’t matter. What matters is the vote, and if Democrats stay the course and work together, they will be able to defeat Trump in November.
