Bethesda Game Studios has more than 200 developers, and the studio develops games such as The Elder Scrolls and fall out, Unionized with Communications Workers of America (CWA). According to a CWA press release, 241 workers, including “artists, engineers, programmers and designers,” have signed union authorization cards or “indicated their desire for union representation through the online portal.”
The CWA said Microsoft has recognized the union; the company has recognized unions made up of Activision QA workers and ZeniMax Studios QA workers. Catalina Brennan-Gatica of the CWA, which describes it as “Microsoft Video Game Studios’ first full union,” means all eligible positions will be represented by the CWA, not just one type of worker. . (So far, all unions at Microsoft-owned studios have consisted solely of QA staff.)
Bethesda employees will become members of CWA Local 2108 in Maryland and CWA Local 6215 in Texas.
Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
