People will be talking about Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 presidential election for decades to come. This had not happened since Lyndon Johnson decided not to run for reelection, and in this case it was entirely his own decision.
There has been much speculation as to the main reasons why this happened, with people citing Biden’s health, his mental deterioration, polling and his poor debate performance in June.
However, if you listen to his campaign co-chairman Cedric Richmond, it all comes down to one thing. money.
Richmond said Biden was doomed once big Democratic donors cut off cash flow.

Cedric Richmond, co-chairman of the Biden campaign, explained what really forced Biden to withdraw: big-dollar donors coming to him.
After Biden’s explosive statement, he said on CNN that their failure to contribute after the June 27 debate “created a self-fulfilling prophecy.” “You can’t win without money, and then they point the finger at the candidate.
“They’re going to blame Biden,” he added. “For a president who has accomplished so much, it’s a win-win situation.”
Now that they’ve successfully pushed Biden out of the race, Richmond said it’s time for these donors to “step up” and support Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign.
So far, it appears to be the case.

Cedric Richmond, by the way, was the one who insisted Biden stay in the race. He persisted until the end.
