President Biden’s family has urged him to continue running, while the president himself hopes to vigorously oppose Trump.
The New York Times reports:
President Joe Biden’s family has urged him to stay in the race despite a poor performance at last week’s debate, but some members of his family have privately expressed anger at his staff’s preparations for the event.
…
A person on Biden’s phone tree said the president wants to keep campaigning hard to contrast with Trump. Lots of false claims.
What’s happening here, it seems, is that the same self-destructive Democrats who have cost the party electoral defeat for years through panic, fear, and poor decision-making are now once again trying to take control of the party and push it off a cliff.
That said, this debate is a huge misstep and something needs to change. It appears there may be some personnel changes and a change in campaign strategy. President Biden wants to be more involved in the campaign and be a better campaigner than Donald Trump.
Biden needs to hold press conferences and interviews.
The president may do a better job on the campaign trail than Donald Trump, who currently has just one day a week on the campaign trail. Polls showed the debate did not change the outcome of the election. The presidential race remains a sticking point. If Biden makes some changes and appeases his base, he can win.
What is clear is that Biden will not withdraw from the Democratic nomination, nor will he allow himself to be excluded from the Democratic nomination.
