President Joe Biden continues to argue that Donald Trump poses a threat to democracy, a day after he called on Americans to “lower the political temperature” following an assassination attempt on Trump.
“If you notice, what should I talk to him about?” Biden asked NBC’s Lester Holt during an interview at the White House. “This is a policy issue that he uses to divide the country, a policy issue that has to do with democracy.”

Holt criticized the president’s answer, noting that Biden didn’t sound like he was “saying no,” but Biden insisted “I’m saying no.”
Biden went on to clarify that what he meant was, “We have to stop the idea that something is contrary to the democracy that we stand for.”
