The Justice Department has agreed to pay a total of $2 million to resolve legal claims brought by former FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok and former FBI attorney Lisa Page over leaked text messages from the DOJ.
It looks like the “insurance policy” has been paid.
Strzok was removed from then-special counsel Robert Mueller’s team investigating false claims of Russian collusion with former President Donald Trump’s campaign.
He was fired from his post after it was discovered that he and his lover, Page, had exchanged rabid anti-Trump messages.
He had been Mueller’s most senior agent on the case and exchanged messages with Page to discuss “insurance policies.”

Peter Strzok gets sizable payday from Biden Justice Department
The New York Times first reported the settlement, characterizing Strzok as a victim of “Trump’s targeting.” Journalist Byron York was quick to point out that the outlet’s report was wrong.

The settlement comes in response to a lawsuit alleging the department violated Strzok and Page’s privacy rights by releasing text messages that showed serious bias in the investigation.
However, the text messages were exchanged over government-issued phones, making it easy for the Justice Department to defend the lawsuit in court.
Instead, they chose to pay both men.

Rewarded for clear and unprecedented bias
It’s hard not to see this settlement as a reflection on the efforts of Peter Strzok and Lisa Page in helping to stoke the false Russia collusion narrative that stymied the Trump presidency for years. Appreciated.
Let’s be clear — Strzok and Page have indisputably displayed clear political bias, with their messages showing the two discussing ways to “stop” President Trump.
“Several FBI employees who played key roles in the investigation sent political messages,” the IG report said.
It quoted Lisa Page’s text message to Peter Strzok: “(Trump) will never be president, right? Right?
Strzok: “No. No, he’s not. We’re going to stop it.

Other previously disclosed text messages show Strzok and Page calling then-candidate Trump a “bastard” and an “idiot.”
According to Politico, the settlement amount between Strzok and Page totaled approximately $2 million. Based on that precedent, Strzok may receive another payout because he has another case claiming he was fired to please Trump.
After being fired from the FBI, he became a pundit on CNN, where he displayed persistent and clear bias, suggesting that the January 6 Capitol protests were worse than 9/11.
