Joe Biden’s aides are creating large-print cheat sheets with step-by-step pictures to guide the president on exactly how to take to the podium for speaking engagements.
Axios obtained campaign templates sent to staff by the White House that show the bizarre way they guide the president’s every move on the campaign trail.
In one such document that totals just five pages, two of the pages contain separate images of Biden’s path to the podium.
The leader of the free world needs a picture book to help him walk through the relatively small space from the backstage area to where he will be speaking.
If one actually sits down and thinks about this, it’s actually amazing.

Biden’s latest memo
The exclusive story published by Axios was produced by a former fundraiser for President Biden’s re-election campaign.
“It amazes me that a seasoned political professional like the president would need detailed verbal and visual instructions on how to get in and out of a room,” they said, according to the outlet.
How the man was surprised is anyone’s guess. President Biden’s aides have long guided him step-by-step at events.
More than two years ago, Biden accidentally revealed the cheat sheet he was using during a meeting with wind energy industry leaders.
The president accidentally held up a card his staff had prepared to guide him through the event.
Some of these instructions are comedy gold:
- “Take your seat.”
- “You give brief comments (2 minutes).”
- “You thank the participants.”
- “Just leave.”
At another event about a year later, a video emerged of a man appearing to guide President Biden through the motions at a stop in North Carolina.

Is it just standard operating procedure?
White House officials responding to the Axios report sought to dismiss the giant picture book provided to the president as nothing more than standard procedure.
White House spokesman Andrew Bates said: “No matter who is president, a high level of detail and precision is critical to presidential advance work, and these are fundamental methods used by any modern advance team, including the office of the vice president and agencies. “
A spokesman for Vice President Kamala Harris added: “These documents are standard logistical briefing materials and photos for any principal, including the vice president.”
Of course, the Vice President is also obsessed with pictures, especially Venn diagrams.
