Joe Biden’s Surgeon General Vivek Murthy has declared gun violence in the United States a “public health crisis.”
Democrats have been eager to pass more gun control measures, and critics of Murthy’s move called it the ultimate pursuit of the Constitution.
This is typical of the left. When they can’t get what they want through the normal legislative process, they look for other avenues.

The U.S. Surgeon General has declared gun violence a national public health crisis.
Surgeon General Vivek Murthy warned on Tuesday that gun-related violence and its direct psychological impact on victims and bystanders seriously undermine public health.
“Today, for the first time in the history of our office, I issued Surgeon General’s Recommendations on gun violence,” Murthy said in a video announcement. “It outlines the urgent threat that gun violence poses to the health and well-being of our country.”
“As a physician, I see up close the consequences of gun violence and the lives of the patients I care for over the years,” the surgeon general continued. “These are parents, sons and daughters who have had their physical and mental health stripped away by a senseless act of violence.”
The advisory noted that 54 percent of U.S. adults have experienced a gun-related incident. These gun violence experiences include being threatened with a gun (21%), losing a family member in a gun-related death (19%), witnessing a shooting (17%) and being injured by a gun (4%).
