Divers have discovered a sixth body, believed to be 18-year-old Hannah Lynch, in the wreckage of a luxury yacht that sank near Sicily, according to Italian media reports.
Hannah was the last person missing after the luxury yacht Bayes sank in a freak storm near the Italian fishing village of Porticello, east of Palermo, killing seven people.
Divers have found five bodies, including Hannah’s father, technology entrepreneur Mike Lynch, in the wreck, which lies 50 meters (164 feet) below the sea.
The body of the ship’s cook was earlier found near the yacht.
A total of 15 people survived, including one year old child and Angela Bacares, Hannah’s mother.
Morgan Stanley International Chairman Jonathan Bloomer, his wife Judy Bloomer, Clifford Chance attorney Chris Morvillo, his His wife, Neda Morvillo, and the ship’s cook, Recaldo Thomas, both died in the disaster.
Rescuers described the operation, which has been underway since Monday, as “complex”. Divers’ underwater shifts are limited to 12 minutes.
A spokesman for the Italian Coast Guard said a decision on whether to recover the sunken yacht from the seabed was “not on the agenda” but would be made in the future.
According to divers from the search and rescue team, the ship was “almost intact” on the seabed.
Hannah Lynch recently completed her A-levels and was offered a place to study English at Oxford University, The Times reported.
A spokesman for the school, where Hannah was a pupil at Latimer High School in Hammersmith, London, said: “We are all devastated by the news.”
They added: “Our thoughts are with their families and everyone involved.”
