After countless delays and years of frustration, Boeing (NYSE:BA) will launch its Starliner spacecraft on Saturday, a mission that has been more than a decade in the making.
By Boeing (BA) and Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMT) joint venture United Launch Alliance (ULA) is expected to launch at 12:25 pm ET (1625 GMT) from the Space Force Station in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
The voyage, called Crewed Flight Test, will carry NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams to and from the International Space Station on a week-long journey.
The program is part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, which in 2014 invited Boeing (BA) and SpaceX (SPACE) to become the first private partners to send astronauts to the International Space Station.
Elon Musk’s Space Exploration Company completed its first manned mission, Demo-2, in 2020.
According to ULA’s latest update, 90 percent of weather conditions remain favorable for launch. NASA will livestream the event on its website at 8:15 a.m. ET.
