In 2023, Officer Noah Werner of Goodlettsville, Tennessee arrested Jeff Adams for DUI. It took four months, but lab tests eventually found Adams was not drunk. But in the meantime, he has been suspended from his job as an Uber driver, and while he has not been fired from his day job as a teacher, he said he still fears the arrest will damage his reputation. CBS Nashville affiliate WSMV reported that Werner arrested two other people for driving under the influence in 2023 who later turned out to be sober. “I certainly regret this and I’m deeply hurt by what they’ve been through,” Police Chief Gary Goodwin said. Police departments across Middle Tennessee have made sober arrests for DUI, the station reported people. The investigation also found that many drivers requested but did not receive breathalyzers because the department did not use them. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation told the station it could take up to eight months to receive alcohol notifications due to a backlog of cases.
