Toronto Police Chief. Stacy Clarke admitted seven counts of professional misconduct, including breach of confidentiality, bringing disrepute and insubordination. Clark, the department’s first black female sergeant, provided sergeant exam questions and answers to six black officers before they took the test. During the court hearing, her attorney said she was frustrated by the time it took to diversify the department and claimed she was working to combat systemic racism. Prosecutors asked that she be demoted to staff sergeant for at least two years before she could reapply as sergeant, but there was no guarantee that she would get the job again. Her lawyers asked that she be demoted to inspector for 18 months and then automatically reinstated to superintendent.
