Raul Ortiz and his mother are suing the Elyria, Ohio, Police Department and three officers after they entered his home without a search warrant, Tasered and arrested him. Ortiz’s ex-girlfriend contacted police, telling them she had stayed at his home and wanted to get her belongings back. When they met her there, Ortiz refused to let them in. . Police charged Ortiz with five felonies, including three counts of assault on a police officer, and charged his mother with felony obstruction of justice for demanding to know why her son was arrested. Prosecutors dropped all charges nine days after Ortiz was jailed.
