Several Republican Senate candidates in Michigan may soon be under state investigation for alleged vote forgery and fraud.

The Detroit News:
The complaint filed with the Michigan Board of Lobbyists follows a “preliminary and limited review” of the petition and specifically names four candidates: former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers of Brighton, Cas. Justin Amash of Catertown and Peter Meyer of Grand Rapids and Grosse Pointe businessman Sandy Pensler. Mayer withdrew from the game in late April.
Lavora Barnes, chair of the Michigan Democratic Party, said the “obvious fraud uncovered requires an immediate investigation of the Republican Senate nominee’s nominating petition.”
The complaint states:
- “A clear, full-page flyer fraud with evidence that all lines of the petition were filled out by the same person.
- Multiple candidates’ petitions contained voter names written in different handwritings, addresses and misspellings.
- The voter’s name appeared multiple times on the same candidate’s petition, in different handwriting, with addresses and spelling errors.
- Evidence of “circulation” schemes, in which signature gatherers from different campaigns take turns signing petitions for candidates on the electoral roll.
- Obvious discrepancies between circulation machine handwriting and signature.
Republican petition fraud has become a huge problem in Michigan. In 2022, five Republican gubernatorial candidates were disqualified from the ballot due to petition fraud. Democrats presented 29 pages of evidence and documents to support their claims of fraud.
If Republicans are shut out of the Senate primary, it would create chaos that could help Democrats keep retiring Sen. Debbie Stabenow’s seat. The Republican Party is bankrupt and in trouble.
