Sebastian Korda beats Alexander Zverev in three sets to reach Canadian Open semifinals
Sebastian Korda’s The summer’s excitement continued as the in-form American defeated second seed Alexander Zverev to reach the ATP Masters 1000 semi-finals for the second time.
Korda defeated Zverev 7-6 (7-5) 1-6 6-4 for his eighth consecutive victory, only his second victory in 14 meetings with a top-five opponent.
Korda, 24, won his second tour title last week and first at the ATP 500 level in Washington and will now prepare for a quick turnaround ahead of their semi-final clash Alexei Popyrin late Sunday.
Popyrin’s incredible week continued as he defeated fourth seed Hubert Hurkacz 3-6 7-6 (7-5) 7-5 to reach the semi-finals.
In other news, Naomi Osaka She defeated Anna Blinkova 6-2 2-6 6-2 to advance to the second round of Cincinnati Open qualifying, where she will compete with Ashlyn Kreuger for the main title. Game seats.
