Circuit Group, a music company founded by music industry veterans from artist management companies Seven20 and AYITA, has announced several new hires as well as a new label services division.
The company, founded in October by industry veterans Dean and Jessica Wilson (Seven20), Brett Fischer, David Gray and Harvey Tadman (AYITA), plans catalog acquisitions.
James Sutcliffe (Chief Strategy Officer) is one of the senior executives joining The Circuit Group.
Sutcliffe previously held leadership positions at Ministry of Sound, LIVENow and Monster Energy. Circuit Group said Sutcliffe has worked with Dua Lipa, Stormzy, SZA and Post Malone, and has pioneered collaborations with the UFC, Lewis Hamilton and various festival brands.
According to The Circuit Group, his expertise in live touring, artist relations and brand partnerships, “coupled with his strategic vision,” make him the “driving force” behind The Circuit Group’s strategic planning and business development initiatives.
Simultaneously, Simon Birkumshaw has been appointed Director of Operations for Label Services; he had been Head of Label Procurement and A&R at LabelWorx.
Prior to joining LabelWorx, Birkumshaw was on the A&R staff at Defected Records, where he contributed to A&R and produced Defected Radio.
Burkumshaw later managed Madhouse & Madtech for Kerri Chandler at Champion Records, developing a “highly respectful relationship” with the artist and now oversees operations and A&R label Kaoz Theory.
Ian Massoth joins The Circuit Group as Director of A&R for New Label Services.
Massoth became AYITA’s first employee, working with artists such as Chris Lake, Fisher and Yolanda Be Cool on musical production and strategy.
Ian and Chris Lake launched Black Book Records in 2016, making Lake independent.
Shivani Phull joins The Circuit Group as Advisor to the Chief Financial Officer. Previous financial leadership roles across multiple industries including Pixelynx/Animoca Brands, Reckitt Benckiser (FTSE 20) and the United Nations.
In his new role, Phil will support “the development of innovative business models in the music industry, with a focus on intellectual property ownership and value creation,” according to The Circuit Group.
Bianca Price has been appointed Social Media Manager and has contributed to projects such as Electric Daisy Carnival, Beyond Wonderland, Day Trip, Under Construction, Griz, LSDREAM and more.
Nick Sung joins as marketing director, having led Get In! campaigns for artists including Good Times Ahead, Tchami and Nicky Romero. During his six years at Astralwerks, he was responsible for public relations and overseeing marketing activities for Chris Lake, SG Lewis, ILLENIUM, ZHU, Bob Moses and others.
Charlie Tadman joins The Circuit Group as Director of A&R. Prior to joining The Circuit Group, Tadman spent six years at Spotify, where he contributed to the growth of the company’s business for songwriters and producers.
Prior to that, Tadman ran Calvin Harris’ Fly Eye Publishing, where he signed talent such as SG Lewis, Louis the Child and Disciples. Tadman will oversee tour management and A&R for artist-focused projects.global music business
