CNN data analyst Harry Enten expressed shock at Biden’s polling numbers on the air after last Thursday night’s debate disaster, noting that he’d never seen a favorable response to the incumbent Such terrible numbers for a president.
The data points Enten seems most concerned about are those related to Biden’s mental health and how that relates to his thoughts on running for reelection.
That’s why Democrats are completely devastated, with some even insisting that he drop out of the race.

HARRY ENTEN, CNN: CBS News and YouGov did some polling after the debate. We can compare that to the pre-debate numbers, and the bottom line is, it’s not good.
Look at this, voters say Biden is mentally healthy enough to serve as president. Before the debate it was only 35%. Look after the debate, support is now down 27%.
How about “He shouldn’t run” for president? The pre-debate ratio was 37%. Now it is 28%.
I’ve never seen a sitting president’s numbers so bad in my life. I mean, “being president requires mental health” is only 27%? You might say, well, that’s too low, but a lot of people think Biden in 2020 is too old. It got worse, even within days of the first presidential debate.
CNN Host: Do our polls show voters want a different candidate?
HARRY ENTEN: Yeah, that’s the whole issue, right? If not President Biden, then who will it be on the Democratic side? The truth is, there are no easy answers. I went back and looked at the polls on Donald Trump and found some different Democrats: Gretchen Whitmer, Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris. Look at this, they’re all behind Donald Trump.
So the idea here is that somehow we’re going to get this magic bullet, and somehow there are going to be some Democrats who can easily defeat Donald Trump, I just don’t see it in the numbers.
