Zweben TeamHigh-yield groups in Manhattan and Brooklyn have left Douglas Elliman Join Compass at its headquarters in Manhattan. Led by Carolyn and Paul Zweben, the team has generated $800 million in sales over more than 20 years in the industry.
“We are grateful to Douglas Elliman for the incredible journey he has given us over the past 23 years,” Zwebens said in a statement. “As we look to the future, we are energized by the possibilities for Compass, which is consistent with our long-term growth vision.”
The two bring a unique perspective to real estate as Paul is a former chef and restaurateur. They even incorporated videos of Paul cooking into marketing materials, presenting the property as a home rather than a property.
According to Compass, the pair were early adopters of video travel, a luxury that has become a necessity in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the years they have attracted high-profile clients including actors and celebrity chefs.
The new team joins Compass at a time when the brokerage business is actively expanding. During its second-quarter earnings call, the company said it hoped to gain 30% market share in the top 30 metropolitan areas across the country.
Compass already has a huge footprint in New York City. According to the company, it ranks No. 1 in New York City for total transactions and sales, in addition to ranking No. 1 in every category in Brooklyn. It also ranks No. 1 in Manhattan for total transaction volume.
Dallas, Florida, New Jersey and Colorado are among the regions where Compass has added headcount in the past month.
“The market has its challenges, but in life and work we go through many cycles [New York City] We have been working in the real estate industry since 2001 and the way to keep our heads above water is to stay in the foxhole and do our job consistently,” Zwebens’ statement read. “Our customers know that, even in rough waters, we have their best interests at heart.”
