The Dallas Cowboys announced Tuesday that offensive lineman Chuma Edoga injured his toe and will miss at least a month.
Edoga, currently the Cowboys’ starting left tackle, was injured in the first quarter of Sunday’s preseason opener, a 13-12 loss to the host Los Angeles Rams. He then put on a walking boot and had an MRI on Monday, but a decision has not yet been made on whether to have surgery, ESPN reported.
Edoga started six of Dallas’ 17 games in 2023, his first with the Cowboys. He re-signed with the team on a one-year deal in April.
The New York Jets selected him in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Southern California. In the 2019-21 season, he played tackle for the Jets, playing in 24 games and starting 12 games. Edoga played two games (one start) for the Atlanta Falcons in 2022 before being placed on injured reserve.
The Cowboys selected Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton in the first round (29th overall) of the 2024 draft, following eight-time Pro Bowl tackle Tyron Smith. Tyron Smith was lost to the New York Jets in free agency in March.
Dallas’ regular season kicks off on September 8 at the Cleveland Browns.
