California Rep. Maxine Waters says Donald Trump threatens to push the U.S. into civil war.
In an interview with MSNBC’s “The Saturday Show,” Waters said Trump’s rhetoric about “revenge” could push the United States to the brink of collapse.
“Congresswoman Waters, your name has been mentioned several times,” host Jonathan Capehart asked. “We’ll give you the final say. What do you think?
Waters responded:
Let me say, when I tweeted about Trump talking about the Constitution, I basically tweeted that he ignores the Constitution, that he has no respect for the Constitution, and I got over a million views on that. I think the American people see through him and they’re going to be wary of the election.
I’m just saying that, I’m concerned that he’s so divisive and he’s talking about retribution and revenge, and I think that’s dangerous. He even mentioned civil war, saying there would be bloodshed. I’m going to spend some time engaging with the criminal justice system and the justice system asking them, tell us what’s going on with domestic terrorists? Are they preparing for a civil war against us? Should we be worried? What is he doing with such divisive language? dangerous.
It’s not just that he’s a criminal, this is someone who has no respect for the Constitution and democracy and we have to figure out what they’re doing and how far will this go when domestic terrorists try to take over the government on January 6th? Are they going to attack?
Last month, Waters aired a similar conspiracy in which she claimed Trump supporters were “training up in the mountains somewhere.”
“I want to know about all the right-wing groups that are associated with him that are training in the mountains somewhere and targeting communities that they’re going to attack,” Waters said at the time, without providing evidence for any of those claims.

Yet as early as 2018, Waters was known for inciting a group of left-wingers and urging them to harass members of Trump’s cabinet.
“If you see someone from [Trump’s] In the cupboards of restaurants, department stores, gas stations, you go out and create a crowd of people, and then you fight back against them, and you tell them that they are no longer welcome, no matter where they are! she declared at the time.
