Establishment Democrats and Republicans — including Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson — were pushing for $61 billion in U.S. aid to Ukraine over the weekend, and some of the things they said were shocking.
Even though more than $100 billion has been given to Ukraine and their chances of defeating Russia are getting slimmer by the minute, the rhetoric of some lawmakers goes beyond even this absurdity.
Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly may have stolen the show, claiming that the border between Russia and Ukraine is “our border.”
“You mean the border between Virginia and Maryland?” as expert Michael Tracy joked.

“The Ukrainian-Russian border is our border”
“Some people say we have to deal with our border first,” Connolly said on the House floor.
He continued, “The borders of Ukraine and Russia are our borders.”
Wow, really? Are they the same as the borders of the United States or the borders of our states? We must have missed this in geography class.
Connolly continued: “This is the line between degenerate authoritarian regimes and freedom-loving people seeking a democratic way of life. Can we share this outcome? Yes. Undeniable yes. Are we going to seize this opportunity?” ?Will we stand side by side with our Ukrainian brothers and sisters?
“We must meet this test today,” he added. “We must stand with Ukraine. Ukrainian Slava!

US politicians show zero shame in donating taxpayer money to failed efforts
To be clear: This Democrat joins most Democrats and many Republicans last week in arguing that prioritizing the U.S. southern border over Ukraine’s border with Russia is wrong and immoral.
Although most Americans do not want the United States to participate in this war anymore. Never mind that we have sent billions of dollars to Ukraine. Never mind that they have made next to no progress against Russia. Never mind that most Ukrainians don’t want to fight and the country’s government is conscripting them, forcing them straight into the meat grinder.
American politicians will do whatever they can to ensure that American tax dollars are spent on this unwinnable war.
